General Manager, Intelligence
Nelson (Nels) Litsinger joined Delex Systems in December, 2012 as a Senior Maritime Security Advisor, where he formulated approaches to improving situational awareness and an in-depth understanding of issues affecting the maritime industry and domain. In December, 2014 Nels was appointed as General Manager of Delex’s Intelligence Business Practice.
His prior industry experience has included senior management, program management and subject matter expert positions providing support to the US National Security community in cyber, civil maritime operations, naval analytical efforts, studies and data acquisition.
Nels served over 29 years in Naval Intelligence and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1988 as Acting Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence and Special Assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence. His Naval career consisted of multiple combat deployment sea tours to Southeast Asia, multiple Mediterranean sea tours, a shore tour in Spain, multiple shore tours on the CNO Staff, and joint tours including an analysis assignment at the Defense Intelligence Agency and a special programs assignment at U.S. Atlantic Command (now JFCOM). All have added to his breadth of experience in intelligence policy, intelligence resources and programs, and operational support and analysis.
He serves on the Foundation Committee for Naval Intelligence Professionals (NIP) and is a past member of the NIP board. He also serves as co-lead for the annual National Intelligence Writing Contest sponsored jointly between NIP and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
Nels holds a Bachelor’s degree from the American University. He is a distinguished graduate of the Defense Intelligence College and a graduated with highest distinction from the Naval War College. He is also a Certified Program Management Professional.
